WASHINGTON, D.C. – July 9, 2013 — The American Pizza Community (APC) announces that Pizza Factory, the California-based, 112-store pizza chain, has joined the coalition. The APC represents 20,000 pizzerias and 400,000 team members. It was formed in 2010 to advocate for policies affecting pizza companies and operators of all sizes and to protect the integrity of the product.
“We look forward to working with the Pizza Factory as part of our coalition’s efforts to support policies and programs that allow the industry to grow and create jobs,” said Lynn Liddle, Chairperson of the APC and Executive Vice President of Communications, Investor Relations and Legislative Affairs for Domino’s Pizza.
According to the APC, the pizza industry is a large, vital part of the economy and a driver of jobs. Policy issues include reasonable menu labeling information, labor policies, tax reform and commodity policies. With 34 million pizza combinations available to suit the variety of tastes of consumers nationwide, pizza can be a part of a healthy diet.
“Pizza Factory is proud to become a member of the APC,” said Mary Jane Riva, President and CEO of Pizza Factory. Operating since 1985, Pizza Factory is based in California with additional stores in Arizona, Idaho, Nevada and Washington. Ms. Riva, a Pizza Factory franchisee herself, recently purchased it from its long-time owners.
